All you need to know about Sound Fitness Team Training

Do I need to be fit already to come to Team Training?

No - but you do need to be committed to achieving your fitness goals. Don’t worry if you lack motivation - our instructors are trained to keep you going! Whatever your current level of fitness, you will be made to feel welcome and put at ease by our instructors and members.

Can I book at any time?
Yes, just fill in our online booking form and print out the health questionnaire, sign and date it and bring it to the park at your first session. (At your free trial please try and arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes before the session starts to go through the questionnaire with your Sound Fitness Team Training Instructor.)

I’ve booked through the website, do I need to book a specific class for my free session?
No, once you’ve registered online an email will be sent to you. Your health questionnaire will be attached to this email, print this off and take it with you to the park.

Do I need to book classes in advance?
No, once you have signed up for classes you will appear on the attendance list of the park where you did your free trial session. After that, simply turn up at any class in any park we train at!

Do I need to do a fitness assessment before starting training?
No, just turn up to any class for your free trial. Your instructor will have a chat with you when you arrive at the park to ascertain your starting ability. (Another reason it is important that you arrive 10 minutes early for your free trial.)

Do I need to see my doctor before I sign up?
You should complete and sign our health questionnaire and hand it to your Instructor before you start your first session. If in doubt or you answer ‘yes’ to any of the questions, we recommend you speak to your GP before attending. Women who are pregnant should also consult their GP before attending Sound Fitness Team Training after the first trimester (12 weeks).

What should I wear and bring with me? Do I need any specialist equipment?
Comfortable clothing, such as tracksuit bottoms or shorts, with a t-shirt. You should wear trainers or running shoes with socks. It is not advisable to wear brand new trainers as the park can get muddy in bad weather! If possible, please arrive in your kit as changing facilities in parks are limited - though we do try to position our meeting points close to public conveniences.

As we will be moving around the park, you should leave valuables at home. Please don't bring a handbag! Your instructor will bring a holdall for all your valuables, which they will keep on their person at all times. You may like to bring a clean dry sweater and a towel to leave in the car for afterwards, especially if it is raining. If the weather is/has been bad, we would also recommend bringing a carrier bag to place on your car seat on the way home, as you may get muddy!

What is a Sound Fitness Team Training session like?
There is no ‘typical’ session. Each instructor is different and each session will be varied to stop both you and your body getting bored. Team Training works on all areas of fitness, from cardiovascular to muscle strength and endurance workouts. Team Training sessions may include running/jogging; team games; exercising in pairs; circuit training; and bodyweight strength exercises.

Classes are normally divided into ability groups and the session will start with a warm up followed by at least 50 minutes of fitness training, before finishing off with a cool down and stretch.
Sound Fitness Team Training instructors specialise in effectively training all abilities and are trained to work to the pace of the weakest member of the group, whilst finding ways to keep the front runners working hard!

What if I can’t attend the sessions that I’ve paid for or if I want to cancel?
We do not offer refunds, but we will work with you before you sign up to help you decide what will be the best package for you. With our memberships, you are committed to being with us for a minimum of 3 months once you sign up. If you cancel before this time, we will charge you a £50 cancellation fee.
